Maria Reyna

     Maria Gutierrez Reyna, age 84, born on April 28,1936, was called home on November 13, 2020.

     Maria was a long-time resident of La Marque, TX for most of her life and worked as hairdresser for over 40 years well into her 70’s when she retired.  Maria was very active and enjoyed crocheting and quilting.  She made beautiful quilts, afghans and hats for nursing home patients.  She enjoyed working in her yard and being outside she had a green thumb and everything flourished for her.  Maria loved family get-togethers, playing cards and sipping Tequila.  She was an excellent cook and loved sharing meals with family during the Holidays, making memories and keeping family traditions.   Maria loved to gamble and enjoyed casino trips with her daughter and game room outings with her son.  She was loving and kind and the matriarch of her family. She will be greatly missed.

     Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Eulalio and Augustina Gutierrez; brothers Lalo Gutierrez and Jesus Gutierrez; sisters Sofia Cabrera and Olivia Herrera; grandson Adam Garcia; daughter Teresa Martinez;  great-granddaughter, Abigail Garcia and daughter-in-law, Sylvia Perez.

     Maria is survived by her daughter Eloisa Drisgill and husband, Robert Drisgill; sons Humberto Perez and Benjamin Garcia.

     Grandchildren:  Crystal and husband Carlos, Jessica, Jennifer and spouse Ray, Brandy & husband Bill, Joel & spouse Mary, Andrea and husband Michael, Ruben and David. 

     Great-grandchildren: Carlos, Victoria, Michael, Marie, Ethan and wife Nina and Xavier

     Great-great Grandchildren: Adrian & Ariella.

     Brother Joe Audon Gutierrez, Sisters: Petra Flores, Erlinda Rayas, Lupe Salas, Janie Miranda, Yolanda Gutierrez and Josie Melendez

     Maria was greatly loved and survived by numerous family members and close friends.

     Maria's Viewing and Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 in the narthex of St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic in Texas City from 1-2 pm.  Mass will be celebrated at 2pm.  Social distancing and masks will be required.
