Margaret Reid Colson was born in Liberty, Texas on December 5, 1954 to parents Donville Delbert Reid and Wilma Lee Hogan Reid. She was the middle child with two sisters, the eldest, Diane Reid Smith and the youngest, Linda Reid Pescheck. She is survived by her two children, daughter Shannon Rhymes Jung and son Quinton "Cole" Colson. Shannon married David Jung and they had Margaret's grandson Jackson Charles Jung.
Margaret lived most of her life in either Texas or Mississippi and spent a few years in Alabama. She was a true Texan, she loved everything about her birth state. Her favorite flower was the Bluebonnet. She went to be with our Lord on Sunday June 16, 2013 when she passed away in her home in Houston Texas. Her wish was to be cremated and have her ashes scattered in a field of Bluebonnets, so whenever we see a field of Bluebonnets we can think of her.
Margaret spent her last years in Texas near her children. She enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could. She enjoyed reading in her free time and she also stayed busy with crafts. In previous years she enjoyed painting ceramics. She loved to paint angels and Christmas ornaments and give them as gifts to her friends and family. In later years she enjoyed stitching Christmas stockings for Cole and Jackson and had plans to make more for Shannon and her family. Christmas was always a special time of year for them.
We know Margaret would have been touched by the tremendous outpouring of love and gifts that helped make this service possible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
The family will receive guests at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013 with 3:00 p.m. Memorial Services to follow at Carnes Funeral Home – Texas City. 409-986-9900.
