Manuel Daniel Serenil

Manuel Serenil

Manuel Serenil, 57, of Galveston passed away on December 5th, 2015.  He was born on November 22nd, 1958 to Toribio G. Serenil and Mary Lucy Velasquez-Serenil.

Manuel was a Master Plumber by trade and was currently working at University of Houston-CL. He previously worked for Lone Star Marine Shelter and Texas City Independent School District for  seventeen years. Manuel was very proud of his plumbing work and expressed it to many stating he was not just a plumber, he was a   Master Plumber.

Manuel is described as a family-man, he always expressed that he learned most traits from his father. He instilled to his family that he wants traditions passed on through generations; from teaching you how to shuck oysters, to making sure you are taught the proper hand shake; firm and look them in the eyes to saying “Yes ma’am, Yes sir” to everyone, not just elders.

Even though everyone remembers Manuel as loving Tejano music, he was caught by our neighbor, Kevin Dixon, dancing to Earth Wind Fire- Let's Groove which currently has 1,341 views on YouTube    under “Texas City Dancing Machine”. As some may know, Manuel would tell everyone he was the manager of the Tejano band, “Pazzion Nortena” LOL

Even though Manuel was divorced from Linda, he still made it a routine to come over every Thursday night for Family Night. Manuel was a proud dad and grandpa “Pato” to Amiyah and Layla; he loved watching his grandbabies grow. Manuel also voiced his happiness when his family would join together for Loteria Night.

He is preceded in death by parents, Toribio G. Serenil and Mary Lucy Velasquez-Serenil.

He is survived by children, T.J. and Manda Querida Serenil;  granddaughters, Amiyah Riley Serenil-Johnson and Layla Marie  Garza-Serenil;  mother of his children and wife for 34 years, Linda Serenil; siblings, Irma “Nini” ( Joaquin Villanueva), Eloy David Serenil( Daniel Keele), Esmeralda “Lolly”( Daniel Ortega), Diamantina Mata, Mary Alice Vasquez, Dorie Ortiz, and Kathleen Serenil.  Special thanks to Leonor Navarro.
