Luisa J. Padilla-Soto
Luisa Josefa Padilla Soto, born in Guanica, Puerto Rico on January 10, 1939 passed away on November 7, 2019 after a long hard fight with Cancer.
Luisa is survived by her 5 children and their families, Sandra Perez, Jerry Perez, Lourdes Santos, Anamaris Perez Padilla, and Jose Perez as well as her 4 sisters Clary Merle, Nayda Padilla, Iyin Chacon, Gerty Padilla, her brother German Padilla Soto, 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Eliud Perez “Ayu”, her brother Jose Luis Padilla Soto, and granddaughter Jerrymar Perez Velez.
Luisa also known as, Mami and Mamaita, was a lifetime educator and principal in both Puerto Rico and Louisiana public schools. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and church member. As a devout Catholic, she loved church and sang in the choir as well as volunteering for church activities. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting and blessed each of her grand and great grandchildren with handmade dollies. She also enjoyed exercising her brain with games of Sudoku and cross word puzzles.
Luisita was honored as Guanica’s Woman of the Year in 2015 for her many accomplishments and consistent dedication to the community. She will be deeply missed by all her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Funeral services and celebration of life will be held at 5:00-8:00 pm on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Carnes Funeral Home 3100 Gulf Freeway Texas City, TX 77591. Flowers, any condolences may be offered or donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.
