Leonard Michael Hubbard

Leonard Hubbard

Leonard Michael “Mike” Hubbard, 74, of Pasadena, Texas passed away November 25, 2019.  Mike was born on March 19, 1945 to parents Leslie Odell Hubbard and Patricia Downey Hubbard (Huff) in Los Angeles, California.

Known as Mike, Michael, Brother Mike, Uncle Mike, Peanut, and – to beloved wife Pat – MICHAEL!!!, he was an active member and ordained High Priest of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Pasadena Ward). He studied his Bible regularly and took great comfort in his faith and the many wonderful people in his Church.

Mike married Patricia Anne “Pat” Hubbard on September 22, 1978. This union blessed him with three stepdaughters and a stepson who survive him: Bridget Bishop and her husband James, Charla Stephens, Michelle Park, and Glenn Stephens and his wife Lotte, all of whom he loved wholeheartedly as his own.  He gained 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren along the way.

After Pat, the love of his life for 39+ years, passed away in July 2018, Mike struggled to adapt to life without her.  Over the years they both constantly declared that their love for each other was rare and undying, and he knew they would be back together again. Five days before he passed, Mike again said, “There are no marriages like ours, they don’t exist.  We were so lucky. I miss her so much.”  He took enormous comfort knowing theirs was a forever marriage and he would be with her again.

Mike had great interest in science and math and spent significant time researching mathematics and gravity in particular.  He also loved to laugh and have fun and was blessed with an unfaltering sense of humor.  Children loved him and he was uncle, grandpa, friend and Santa Claus to many over his lifetime. He also closely followed politics, liked speaking Spanish with his friends, enjoyed books and movies, and loved his pet rescue cat, BA.

In addition to his step children above, Mike is survived by three of his seven siblings, Harold Ruben “Benny” Huff, David Paul Huff, and James Allen Huff; as well as a long list of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends, far too many to list.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Lettie Vanetta; parents, Leslie Odell Hubbard and Patricia Huff; step-father Ruben Huff; sister Lauralee Patricia Hubbard; and three brothers, Leslie William “Bill” Hubbard, Lowell Steven “Steve” Hubbard, and Charles E. “Charlie” Huff.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, December 14, 2019 in the Gathering Center at Bayshore Towers at 3219 Burke Rd. in Pasadena, Texas.  Mike’s ashes will be combined with those of his beloved wife Pat and scattered at a later date.
