Kirk D Edwards
Kirk Douglas Edwards, Sr., 66, passed away on February 18, 2018 due to complications with cancer.
Born in Houston, Texas, he was the son of Juanita Edwards and Onie Munks. He attended Worthing High School where played football. Upon graduating, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, he developed a lifelong love of learning. He received multiple licenses and certifications in the fields of drafting, auto mechanics, air conditioning and heating, stationary engineering, and others. Ultimately, Kirk received an Associates Degree in Computer Technology from the Houston Community College (HCC). Before joining HCC as a Computer Technician in 2001, he was employed at Hughes Tools and Metro.
Kirk accepted Christ in his youth and most recently belonged to Grace and Truth Praise & Worship Center. He was very skilled with his hands, and he enjoyed sports, learning and playing with technology. He will be remembered most for his unwavering determination.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and eldest sibling, Larry Edwards. He is survived by his Godmother and aunt, Cleo Dillard Cormier; two siblings, Robert "Tike" Edwards and Debbie Edwards; three children, Marlo Falls (Alexander), Kirk Edwards, Jr. (Charlotte) and Charisma Milledge (Samuel II); eight grandchildren Davion, Keanté, Tranice, Mason, Kirk III, Chloe and Sage; one great grandchild, Adrian; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Carnes Funeral Home, 1102 Indiana Street, South Houston, Texas 77587. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. A repast will follow the service at Grace and Truth Praise & Worship Center, 8101 Airport Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77061.
