Joseph Reintzel Williams Jr.
Joseph Reintzel Williams Jr., 76, of Texas City, TX, passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, July 5th 2017, surrounded by his beloved family and pets. Mr. Williams was born December 8, 1940 in Washington, D.C., the third child of Joseph Reintzel Sr. and Myrtle Audrey (Deane) Williams. He married his Wife, the Love of his Life; Carol Ann Boyer on July 14, 1960, in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Williams- (1941-2015), his father and mother; Joseph Sr. and Audrey Williams, his brother Thomas Harry Williams and his great grandson Logan Gage McConnell of Fernley, Nevada.
Surviving family include his sister, Mrs. Joanne E. Ross (Thomas) of Bowie, MD., his 5 children; Robin Rene Williams of Alberta, Canada, Thomas Joseph Williams (Angela) of Champaign, IL., Ralph Joseph Williams (Fiancé, Tina Bui) of Texas City, TX., Giovanni Matthew Williams of California, MD., and Michele Lynne Williams of Duluth, GA., as well as 14 grand children, and 9 great grand children.
Joe Williams was born and raised in Washington, D.C. He joined the U.S. Army in January 1958. Stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., Joe specialized in Communications with the Signal Corps. He retired from the Army in May of 1980 at Ft. Gordon, GA. after 22 years of military service. A Bronze Star Recipient, Joe completed 3 tours in Vietnam, as well as serving 2 years in Germany. After his military career, he worked in the Aeronautical Space field and retired from NASA in 2012.
ACelebration of Life Memorial service will be held for, “Joe Willy” on July 11, 2017, 6pm - 9pm, at the Bay Area Museum5000 NASA Road 1, Seabrook, TX 77586. Refreshments provided. Please join us in recounting and celebrating the events, qualities, contributions and connections of Joe Williams and his life, which touched us all in one way or another. The service will begin at 6 pm. Joe will be interred, with Carol’s remains, at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. with full Military Honors, at a future Date and Time to be announced.
