Joseph Lee Massie
Joseph Massie was born and raised in Mineola, TX. He graduated from Mineola High School and joined the United States Army in 1987. He was assigned to Pershing Nuclear Missile Duty until 1990, when he transferred to the reserves.
Joe began a 23-year career with TDCJ, working in several units and holding several ranks, including Captain, finally ending his tenure at the Ellis Unit. Joe loved being a correctional officer.
Joe was an avid fisherman and loved the water.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; Colette and Idas Massie. Joe is survived by his wife, Brooke Massie; daughter, Jessica Ann McDonald and fiancée James Lee Baber; grandsons, Timothy Ray Gaylon Ferguson, Nathan Lee Revis Ferguson, Jacob Christopher Deshawn Jackson; daughter, Brittany LeeAnne Massie; sister, Lisa Herera; niece, Elizabeth Herman; as well as several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Joe will be missed by his many friends, his in-laws, and his TDCJ family.
A memorial service will be held from 1:00 – 2:30 pm on March 22, 2019 at the Texas Prison Museum, 491 Texas 75 Huntsville, TX 77320
