Joseph Christopher DeRanieri
Joseph Christopher DeRanieri, 43, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011 at his residence after a brief illness. Joseph, affectionately known as Joey, was born and raised in Galveston, TX. He graduated from O’Connell High School in 1986. Joey worked for many years at Randall’s as receiving and assistant store manager where he made many lifelong friends and everyone who shopped at Randall’s knew Joey. He then managed Office Depot for several years and at the time of his death was currently co-owner and manager of Sonic in Dickinson.
Joey lived his life with great character and integrity. He was the most quick-witted, funniest guy and was often asked why he never did stand-up comedy. His jokes and funny comments brought much laughter to everyone in his presence, a true “life of the party”. Joey had an extreme passion for music and had the best music collection of anyone. He loved spending time with his nephews and always had a full house to watch the Texans football games.
Joey is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Beverley DeRanieri. He is survived by his sister Julie Francis of Texas City and five nephews, Ryan Hill who was like a son to him, Kevin Francis, Justin Francis, Tanner Francis and Chase Busby; best friends Neal Mora, Jay Carnes, John Francis, Steve Agorastas, Christian Lusby and Johnny Giusti.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 5-8 PM at Carnes Funeral Home in Texas City, TX. Funeral services will be Monday at the funeral home at 10 am. Memorial donations may be sent to Carnes Funeral Home.
Joey, you have left us far too soon. You will be truly missed by all who knew and loved you. Thanks for all the years of love, support and joyous laughter.
