Johnny Andrew McKinnis, Jr.
Johnny Andrew McKinnis, Jr., 60, of Alva, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2012 after battling cancer. Born in Montebello, California to Johnny McKinnis, Sr. and Vera Cox, he lived most of his life in Alva with his mother and step-father, Earl Erickson.
John was very proud of his children, Bryan McKinnis and his wife Jennifer, of League City, and Chelsey Lewis and her husband Willie, of Webster. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Guyanne VanLandingham, whom he proudly walked this earth to please; his children; and three grandchildren Kimberly and Ruben Garcia, and Ashlin McKinnis. as well as his many loving and admiring friends and neighbors.
“Tiny” was loved. He was a dedicated man who took pride in his work and in the family he supported. He was a distinguished employee of Stewart & Stevenson, LLC for nearly 40 years, a weekend fisherman, classic rock enthusiast, and set the standard for being a good listener and friend. His laughter was infectious, his love sincere, and his grin has left an everlasting impression in the memories of those who knew him.
His time was short-lived but he lived it so intensely and with such zest that it is nearly impossible to find any reason to question God over his choice to take him from this earth so soon. His purpose was undoubtedly clear: Forever, he will be our hearts. Forever, we will love him.
