John Jones was born in Lufkin, Texas on June 1, 1944. He passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Jones; mother Dovie Jones Hyatt; step-father J.V. Hyatt; sister Nina Hebert; brothers Jimmy, Dempsey, Jesse, and Billy Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Debbie Jones; his 4-legged best friend Buster; daughters Nina Loveless and Lisa Westbrook; sister Linda Mouton; brother Jack Jones; special daughter Sylvia Anderwald; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
John was a long time resident of Galveston where he attended Galveston schools and Galveston College. He worked for many years at Farmers Marine Copper Works as a diesel mechanic at Coach USA formerly Texas Bus Lines.
He loved riding his Harley Davidson, gardening, wood working, and sitting on his porch visiting with his neighbors.
Pallbearers will be Dan Callahan, Noel Anderwald Jr., Forest Shannon, CJ Shannon, Kevin Jones, and Mark Johnson. Honorary pallbearer will be Jack Jones.
The family will receive visitors Monday, September 1, 2014 from 5:30-8:30 P.M. at Carnes Funeral Home in Texas City. Services will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Joe Schwenk officiating. Burial to follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.
A special thanks to the staff at Clear Lake Regional Heart Hospital 4th floor and CCU Unit, especially his favorite nurse Mary, for the loving care they gave John and the support for his family.
