Joel Hagler Sr.

Joel D. Hagler, Sr. was born April 24, 1988 in Galveston, Texas.  He transitioned from his earthly life to his eternal life on September 6, 2019 in Webster, Texas.  Joel was born to Michelle Callis and Dewayne Hagler.  He was educated in the La Marque ISD and Dickinson ISD.  Joel played football and later decided sports was not for him.  He enjoyed reading, building model airplanes and collecting baseball cards. He was an excellent father to his children. His quiet persona endeared him to many people. He loved his family and spending quality time with them.

Joel was baptized at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Dr. William L. Randall, Jr. in Hitchcock, Texas. After completing his secondary education, Joel joined the workforce and started his career in the construction industry.  He earned many certifications in safety: Industrial Carpenter V4, Construction Site Safety Supervisor, Construction Site Safety Technician, Construction Site Safety Technology and Construction Site Field Safety.

Joel was preceded in death by his great grandmothers, Ethel Harris, Bessie Kelly and Ruth Hill; great grandfathers, Smith Henry Kelly and Ulice Callis, Sr.; grandfathers, Andrew Callis, Sr. and Charles Hagler; good friend, Todd Castille, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Angela Michelle Callis Robinson(Roy); father, Dwayne Hagler; his children, Nala Hagler, Joel D. Hagler, Jr. and Alana Hagler; devoted maternal grandmother, Mary Gamble; his paternal grandmother, Mary Aldridge; his brother, Jok’quel Callis; sister, Jaelynn Hagler; God-brother, Kameron Williams; God-sisters, Rayven Fields and JaRoney Lymuel; nephews, JaCorey, Jhase, Kylan, Kaden and Jaxson; nieces, Meeky and Kendall; uncle, Andrew Callis, Jr. (Toni); aunts, Andrea Callis Victorian, Alicia Callis Burrell (Todd) and Amanda Hagler; mothers of his children, Candy Sanchez and Kevinisha Davis; a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

There will  be a public visitation held on Saturday September 14, 2019 at 9am with a service beginning at 10am.  Services will be held at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church 6333 Hwy 6, Hitchcock, Texas 77563.  Burial to follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Cemetery.
