Joanna Carol Harris
Joanna Carol Williams Harris was born on November 18, 1962 in San Francisco, California to Emanuel “Bill” Williams and Joyce Williams. She was introduced to Christ at an early age and attended Third Baptist Church. She graduated from Castlemont High School in 1980. She furthered her education at Laney College in Oakland, California. She was a member of the Camero Club where she was known as “Ms. Lady J”. While in high school she met the love of her life, Kevin Harris, they spent untold hours at the local skating rink, skating many nights away. Their love for one another grew stronger through the many years. They became husband and wife on September 11, 1999. While visiting family in Texas with her family she fell in love with the great state. In June of 2004 Joanna moved to Texas with her husband and daughter. She was employed with American National Insurance Company, Gulf Copper and KBR/Sub Sea 7 where she gave diligent service as a cost accountant.
Joanna loved traveling by way of cruising, fishing, crabbing, reading, watching movies, singing, dancing and her Oakland Raiders. She was the epitome of a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. Her beautiful infectious smile that she always greeted you with will be missed deeply. Her hard working, energetic and strong persona endeared her to many people.
She was preceded in death by her father, Emanuel “Bill” Williams; grandparents, Rev. Ruben & Eldora Johnson; brother, Roy Williams; nephew, Sean Williams; uncle, Ruben Johnson, Jr.; mother in law, Doris Jefferson; brother in law, Emil Hyde and other love ones.
There will be a visitation held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10am with a chapel service to begin at 12pm. Services will be held at Carnes Funeral Home. 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas 77591.
