Jo Ellen Harrell
Jo Ellen Harrell
Loving Mother, adored daughter, cherished sister, Aunt and friend
Passed gently from this world December 29, 2017
Jo Ellen was born March 3, 1968 to Jack and Virginia Harrell
on a windswept day in Alamogordo New Mexico to be brought home to join her 5 older siblings and was joined a few years later by a 6th
From her first days she was a delight to her family with her bright eyes and joyful disposition
Loved by all, she had a happy youth spent wandering fields, fording streams, swimming rivers, building forts & treehouses and spending time with countless friends
As the years passed she moved along with her family to many places all over Texas attending school in Hereford, Seguin, New Braunfels, Corpus Christi,
El Paso, Katy and Texas City
On April 3, 1986, she gave birth to the Joy of her life, John Wesley Hare
Together they made their home primarily in Galveston County with the past 15 years being in Bacliff Texas
Jo began working the midnight shift at Stop-n-Go in 1988. By demonstrating the work ethic, ability and dedication so strongly instilled by her mother, she soon became a manager. She continued in that role bringing her joy, love and compassion to all those she came into contact with.
Although she loved her job she was always first and foremost a dedicated mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Mere words cannot express her gentle spirit, her compassion for others and the love she truly shared with so many.
Jo was challenged with serious health issues at a young age but battled through with inspirational strength and fortitude that allowed us to have her in our lives for all these years since.
Jo was preceded in death by her Father Jack, Sister Roxanne, Mother Virginia and Niece Amy. She is survived by her Son John and his fiancé Dani of Bacliff, Sister Gypsy of Amarillo, Brother Mike & Wife Paula of Hereford, Sister Suni of San Antonio, Sister Jackie of Texas City and Brother Bill & Wife Melissa of Simonton Texas.
She is also held in remembrance by her much loved nephews and nieces
Jack, Leslie, Jay, Duece, Kristy, Mark, Krystlle, Jotarra, Miranda, Ema, and Elijah
As well as 16 great nephews and nieces and of course, countless friends
It’s impossible to express how much Jo Ellen will be missed. We were all truly blessed by having her in our lives and the world was a better place for having had her in it.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Friday, January 5, 2018, at Carnes Funeral Home in Texas City.
