Jimmy Charles Hollaway

Jimmy Hollaway

Jimmy Charles Hollaway passed, faithfully believing he is going to meet his God and knowing he is loved by his family and friends.

The son of Billy Eugene Hollaway and Rheba Josephine Guinn, Jim grew up in the Dallas area with his brothers:  Bill Hollaway, Kenny Hollaway and Tony Hollaway.  As the patriarch and a preacher, Eugene provided a faith-based home that instilled spiritual guidance. With the added loving support from his stepmother, Vivian Hollaway, Jim’s faith lasted a lifetime.

Jim shared his life with a loving companion, Stephen Sye, for more than 20 years. Jim was a very caring and generous father to Beverly Castro (husband Robert), Chad Hollaway (wife Stacy) and adoring grandfather to Riley, Eli, Toni and Shelby.

He was passionately artistic in many genres -- including art, design, and cooking. These expressions provided him with a lifelong avocation and with abundant gifts generously shared with family and friends. His final request was to send "tons" of gratitude and appreciation to this circle for all the love and support they gave him.

In a life with numerous health and personal challenges, Jim was put to the test often, yet persevered heroically, inspiring those who knew him with his upbeat spirit, his courage and his humor. Consistent with his generosity, Jim’s wish is to donate his body to science with the heartfelt intention of benefiting others through medical education and research. There will be no funeral or formal services. Family and friends are invited to a gathering.
