Jeweline Allen

Jeweline Dickerson Allen was born November 17, 1940 to the late Louis and Clara Dickerson, Sr. in Lake Providence, Louisiana.

She was educated in the public schools of Lake Providence, and received an associates degree in the nursing field from Alvin Community College. She  was a dedicated Unit Clerk at UTMB Galveston for Twenty-four years until her retirement in 1995.

After her retirement  Jeweline joined the Nessler Center Senior Citizens group where she enjoyed “going to school” to see her many friends, participating in activities, and playing games. At the end of the day she enjoyed sitting on the front porch, taking rides, and enjoying the scenery.  Jeweline enjoyed the company of her grandchildren, she loved to share her lessons learned from her grandmother, and she always encouraged them to pray, love one another, and to forgive each other.

Jeweline accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Light Baptist Church in Lake Providence. Upon Moving to Texas City, she joined Barbour’s Chapel Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member of the Nurse’s Aide Board. She was also very active in Sunday School, and General Missions.

Jeweline was joined in holy matrimony to Lee Allen for forty-three years, until his passing in 2001.  She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers; Johnny Washington, and Louis Dickerson, Jr.

Surving to cherish her memories are her beloved children; Anita (Larry) Allen, Gwendolyn Dickerson, Sharon Allen, Kenneth (Sharyl) Allen, Tracey Allen, Darrell Allen, and Carroll Allen, thirty-six Grandchildren,  ten Grandchildren, sister, Esther Brown (Moses), six sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, God-Daughter, Avonda Grant (Raymond), nieces, nephews, special friends; the McCray family, the Walton family,  the Barbour’s Chapel Church Family, and the Nessler Center Senior Citizens.
