Jennie Dorothy Sanzica Calobrisi
Jennie D. Calobrisi died peacefully on September 4, 2019 at her residence. She was 91. Jennie was born on October 4, 1927 in Lawrence MA, the daughter of Louis and Josephine (Terranova) Sanzica.
She was educated in Lawrence, MA. Lawrence High School, class of 1945. She attended the MacIntosh Business School, Medical Secretary course after graduation. She was employed as a medical secretary for Dr. Venti until retiring in 1976.
She married Cosmo John Calobrisi on February 4, 1951. They lived in an upstairs apartment upstairs from Jennie’s parents at 23 Pleasant Street, Lawrence MA while Cosmo worked for his father, John Calobrisi, at Community Radio Incorporated. He attended Lowell Tech University night school, earning an AEE degree in 1960. After graduating from Lowell Tech, Cosmo was hired by Raytheon as a technical writer. Jennie had 3 children while in Lawrence, John, Brenda, and Bart.
Jennie and the family moved to Methuen, MA in 1961, residing at 43 Lincoln Street. She soon had another son, Cosmo (Cosie). One of Jennie’s most favorite pastimes was to spend 2 weeks a year in Provincetown, Cape Code MA. Each summer for 50 years the family would stay with the same group of friends in small cottages by the bay, sharing good times, beach activities and good food.
Jennie loved music, singing and she pasted on her musical talents to her sons Bart and Cosie. She enjoyed watching TV and listening to music. After her husband passed, Jennie took up line dancing, candlepin bowling and trips with the Rainbow Club. She was a member of the Red Hats and the Methuen Senior Center, where she played cards with friends every Friday. Jennie relocated to Texas in January 2014 to live in Assisted Living near her son John.
Jennie was preceded in death by her husband Cosmo in 1992, her daughter Brenda in 1999, and her son Bart in 2011. She is survived by her son John (and Sandra) in Texas; her son Cosie (and Katy) in Florida, and daughter in law Lori in Mystic, CT; 4 grandchildren Jamie (and LaTrell) Fuentes in Texas; Jason (and Sarah) Calobrisi in Louisiana; Amanda Calobrisi in CT; and Emily Calobrisi in MA; 2 great grandchildren, Nicola Fuentes and Oliva Calobrisi.
Private services will be held with immediate family. She will be interred beside her husband Cosmo at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen MA. Donations may be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
