James Wayne Aldridge
James Wayne Aldridge was born in Galveston, Texas on October 1, 1947. He passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the age of seventy years, in Texas City, Texas.
James (or Jimmy, Jimbo, Jim-Bob, or just plain Bob to confuse others) was a longtime resident of the biggest states in the Union…Texas, where he was born, and Alaska, where he married and his three children were born. He was a retired member of Local 1959 Painter & Drywall Union. He loved carving, drawing, and painting, and spent thousands of hours working on pieces that he would give away to family and friends. He was adept at long-distance running, and used that skill successfully, whether for charity or for catching up to his children for a much-deserved whuppin’. He also had a passion for history, whether local, US, or world, and loved getting into discussions of historical significance with anyone who was interested.
He is preceded in death by his father, Sydney Earl Aldridge, mother, Ruby Jean Mercilliott, and brothers, Sydney Earl Aldridge II and Rodney Clark Aldridge.
James is survived by his children, Jameison & Joshua Aldridge of Fairbanks, Alaska; daughter, Brandy Aldridge of Redmond, Oregon; sister, Terry Barton, of Lebanon, Oregon; grandchildren, Jade, Evan, Brenna, Jordan, James & Ethan Aldridge, and Patrick McKee; nephews, Keith & Alec Smallwood, of Lebanon, Oregon; niece, Lexi Smallwood; step-daughters, Amy & Nicole; blood brother, Glen Barton, and a slew of relatives representing the Aldridge, Mercilliott, and Cox Families.
Guests are invited to share in a Celebration of Life Services from 4-5:00 p.m., on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, TX 77591.
