James Robert Schaefer, Jr.
Jim was born in Gary (Merrillville), Indiana on January 3, 1970. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Nayler Carter, and his paternal grandparents, John and Agnes Schaefer.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Lusby Schaefer and his children, Hanna, Riley and Sydney; his mother, Cathy Schaefer, of Bay City, Michigan; his maternal grandmother, Muriel Carter, of Bay City, Michigan; his father, James Robert Schaefer of Crown Point, Indiana; two half brothers and a half sister. He is also survived by his uncles Ken Carter, of Traverse City, Michigan, and Jeff Carter, of Decatur, Alabama.
Jim grew up in Merrillville, Indiana and Houston, Texas. He joined the Navy out of High School and lived in many places in the U.S. before he met his beloved wife, Robin, and settled in Texas City with her and their children, Hanna and Riley Harper and Sydney Schaefer.
Jim was the owner and founder of All American Pool Supply/Service in Texas City since the year 2000. He built his business from the ground up and it continues to thrive and provide for his family today.
Jim loved music – every aspect, which included listening, writing, performing, recording, and playing guitar. He liked almost every genre (even a little Country – but he’d never tell)! Anyone who attended a family gathering or party can attest to his talent, which was exhibited with genuine enthusiasm.
He was a great storyteller, but the best stories were actually based on true-life schemes and antics. He would tell Robin, “I know you’re mad at me now, but it’s going to make a GREAT story – the guys will be telling it for years!” He was the perpetual “class clown!”
He loved to laugh - AND HE LOVED TO PARTY! Anywhere, anytime, any place!
And, MOST OF ALL, Jim LOVED his family – Robin, Hanna, Riley, and Sydney.
He truly lived life to the fullest extent!
