James Grant Kelley Sr
James Grant Kelley, Sr., of South Houston passed away September 20 2015 at the age of 74 after fighting and beating stage 4 colon cancer. He was born Aug 6 1941 in Taylor TX to John and Luzelle Kelley. Jim was active for many years in South Houston Girls Softball Association as a parent, coach, president and umpire and formed many lifelong friendships through softball. He not only supported his children in softball, but in basketball, volleyball, orchestra and band as well - even though his kids went to South Houston and he graduated from Pasadena.
Jim is preceded in death by his father John, sisters Joyce and Doris, and his loving wife of over 27 years Charline. He is survived by his mother Luzelle Kelley, brother John Kelley and sister-in-law Dink, brother Darrell (Mickey) Kelley and sister-in-law Sherry, sister Delores (Sunshine) Nolen, daughters Yvette Fairchild, Valarie Kelley and Kimberly Kelley, son James Kelley Jr. and his partner Mason Alves, grandchildren Caitlin Fairchild, Charles Fairchild and Brandon Jones, sister-in-law Frances Brown and her husband Glynn Theriot, brother-in-law Billy Brown and his wife Karen, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and family friends. He also leaves behind his work family of 14 years at Oxy. Jim remarried after the death of his wife and also leaves behind his second wife Carol, her children Kim, Eric and Beka, and their spouses, children and grandchildren.
Jim will be cremated and interred in a private family service in Nolanville TX. There will be a celebration of life held at 2pm Oct 4 2015 at the SPJST Lodge 172 (3609 Preston, Pasadena TX 77505) for all those who loved him.
