James Franklin Frey
James Franklin Frey went home to the Lord on March 17, 2018 at the age of 100! He was born to Jim Thomas and Laura Bell Frey on March 7, 1918. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Walter, and his first wife of almost 48 years, Dorothy. He is survived by his loving wife and faithful caregiver, Bernice; his son Tom Frey and his wife Jeanne; his grandson Tommy; great-grandson Jace; his daughter Gloria and her husband Dennis Forster; and his favorite niece Vicki McConnell. He is also survived by Bernice’s children, Phyllis and Shane, as well as the many friends he made throughout his lifetime. James did much in his 100 years! He served in the U.S. Army in WWII and landed on the beach of Normandy. He was a sharp shooter and went on reconnaissance missions. He was wounded in Germany on December 5, 1944 and earned a Purple Heart. After being honorably discharged, he drove an 18 wheeler on long-distance hauls, then went to work for Sea-Land as a local truck driver. After he retired from that, he built and captained the Gulf Pride shrimp boat. Later in his life he started a business driving as an escort for oversized loads. He was a hard worker, a good husband to Dorothy, a good father to his children, and then a good husband again to Bernice. He surrendered his life to Christ when he was 89 years old and now resides in heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ!
