James Cecil McDougle Sr.
James C. “PaMac” McDougle, Sr., 74, passed peacefully away on March 26 at his home in Galveston, TX, in the company of his loving wife and companion of 32 years, Gloria Bethea McDougle. James was also affectionately known as “Tommy” by many of his family and friends.
James was born in Austin, TX on Sept. 29, 1939. He was a lifelong resident of Galveston County graduating from Dickinson High School in the class of ’58. He was employed by Union Carbide-Texas City, retiring in 2000 with over 30 years of dedicated service. In his retirement, James enjoyed his time living a peaceful life traveling, spending time with family and friends, cooking and barbecuing, watching the Astros, Oilers/Texans and Rockets and attending his many grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.
In his life, James was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents Ira and Emma McDougle, brothers Sonny, Dennis and Curtis McDougle, brother-in-law Ray Anderson, sister-in-law Louise McDougle, nephew-in-law Pat Hardy, and niece-in-law Beverly McDougle.
In addition to his wife Gloria, he is survived by his children, Jim McDougle and fiancé Claudia, Carl Bethea and wife Jennifer, David Bethea and wife Barbie, Christine Meadows and husband Randy; grandchildren Lauren, Jacob, Bolton, Chloe, Brock, Alex, Kaleb, Marcus, Ryan, Rebecca; great-grand children Eli and Kace; sisters Billie Barnhill and husband Pat, Francis Anderson, Linda Curry and husband Ralph and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws that all meant a great deal to him.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Fwy, Texas City, TX 77591. A Fellowship Gathering will follow the visitation from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
