James Benjamin Hysmith Jr
James Benjamin Hysmith Jr. from Galveston, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018, with his family by his side. He will forever be loved and missed by his best friend and wife, Nannette Benham Hysmith, and his three daughters Rose Ann Hilton Luna, Shirley Hilton and Diane Dixon Place.
Born on September 18, 1938, James was born and raised on Galveston Island, and is where he met his wife Nannette. The two were married January 16, 1981. They raised their three children in Texas City and decided to move back to the island in 1992.
James is preceded in death by his parents, James B. Hysmith and Helen Froney Hysmith, sisters, Helen Autrey and husband Robert, Maybel Jackson and husband James, twin sister Mary Reed and husband Buck.
He is survived by his wife, Nannette Hysmith, daughters, Rose Ann Luna, Shirley Hilton, Heather Hunter, and Diane Dixon Place and husband Jerry; grandchildren Christopher Luna and wife Rosalie, Elizabeth Luna, Craig Dunker II and wife Deanna, Ariana Place, and twins Katelyn and Courtney Hunter; great grandchildren Nicolai Luna, Annastasia Luna, Chrisalie Luna, Alexandria Dunker and Jeanie Dunker. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and James Benham, along with many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be from 6-7pm with a memorial service to follow at 7pm at Carnes Funeral Home, Texas City, TX.
