Surrounded by his loving family the heavenly gates opened Thursday, June 2, 2011 for Howard Linscomb, Jr. loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.

On February 9, 1931, a beautiful baby boy by name of Howard Jr. was born to Howard Sr. and Thelma Linscomb in Port Arthur, Texas.

Howard affectionately known as “Grampa” or “Bubba” was a dedicated employee of Union Carbide for 42 years.  He served in the United States Army as a medic during the Koren War.  Howard loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren but most of all he loved his wife Mavis, who preceded him in death seven months ago.  Howard was an awesome caretaker to his entire family, a true patriarch to his children and grandchildren.  He was a good, fair man who treated everyone with dignity and respect.  This “real man” was God fearing and God loving.  He was a honorary member of the Community Christian Charity organization and a faithful member of Bell Zion Baptist Church until his health failed.

Howard is preceded in death by the love of his life Mavis; parents; brothers, TC Linscomb, Robert “Snook” Linscomb, and Bertrand Linscomb; sisters, Hazel Demerson and Minnie Nellums; grandson, Christopher Linscomb and her great granddaughter Remi Werdlow.

Left to cherish the legacy of this magnificent man are his sons Douglas Linscomb and Howard “Rocky” Linscomb III; daughters, Diane Adams, Debra Overshine (Joe), Dorothy Penn (Joe), Denise Linscomb (Ron) and Donna Owens (Larry); Linda McKenzie (Thearthur); three grandchildren he raised as his own, Fred Harris IV, Kioka Overshine, and Sherri Linscomb-Turner; three great grandchildren he held close to his heart,  De Lan Baines, Yazzmen Werdlow, and Tiger Turner whom he affectionately called “Push”. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Brandi Baines, Raushawn Penn, Jared Penn, Brianna Robinson (AJ), Danielle Robinson (Raymond), Justin Owens, Lawrence Owens, Lance Owens, JD Owens, Ashley Ross, Enjoli Linscomb, Tim McKenzie(Lynette), Karen Collins (Antwan);  great grandchildren, Malcom, Jayden, Joshua, Gabrielle, Kendall, Allie, LaTasia, Lil Fred, Kolby, Carmine, Andrew, Kaden, Julion, Sheldon and Brenan; brother, Carl Linsomb; sister, Bessie Sanford; a devoted cousin Oversia Faye Gilbert; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, his Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church family, and many friends.
