Henry Harry Judge Crawford
Henry “Harry”/”Judge” CRAWFORD died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Galveston on March 22nd 2013. He was born in London where he resided for 90 years before emigrating to live with his daughter and family. For a further eight and a half years he participated in this local community with family and friends, having been a winter Texan for the previous 25 years. He left school at 14, to work at the London Postal Service. He enlisted with the Army, Royal Engineers for the duration of World War II. On his return he married Birthe Juul, they bought a home in South East London, residing there till he emigrated. He was employed as a Civil Servant till his retirement. He enjoyed a full, rich and active life to include tennis, woodwork, traveling and being a great handyman. He continued to be an avid reader, piano player and writer till his death. He attended both Grace Episcopal and Trinity Churches when in Galveston. Preceded in death by his wife in 2000, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Anne and Michael LettBrown; his brother Fred, wife and niece in California; his wife’s brother, wife and niece in England, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. There will be a Noon Memorial Service on Wednesday April 3rd, 2013 at Grace Episcopal Church, followed by a reception at Jenkins Hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either Galveston County Hospice Care Team, Inc. or to St. Vincent’s House, Galveston; in memory and celebration of his life.
