Lifelong Texan, Gwendolyn Kay Lee Dotson, of Baytown passed away September 29, 2018 at the age of 69.


Gwen was born December 2, 1948 in Baytown, one of five children born to Thomas Gilbert Lee and Alice Jeanine Lee, née Purdy.


On February 23, 1967 Gwen married Richard Everett Tripp in Del Rio. Gwen and Richard were married for nearly 25 years and had three daughters together. Gwen was blessed to have two granddaughters— Karina Daniella Martinez and Allison Lindsey Walton; and two grandsons— Landon David Martinez and Spencer Ryan Walton.


Gwen worked as an interpreter for the deaf for Goose Creek School District, and then as a committed church secretary at Abundant Life Church in La Porte and later at Faith Temple in Baytown. Gwen will be remembered for her devotion to her church and dedication to her church family.


Gwen leaves behind her beloved husband, Timothy Ray Dotson, whom she married October 5, 2003. She and Tim were married for the remainder of her life, nearly 15 years.


Gwen is survived by her daughters: Maria Anne Martinez of San Antonio; Janice Lynette Walton of Anchorage, Alaska; and Kathrine Rebecca Tripp of Dallas. She leaves brothers, David Clifton Lee and Thomas Gilbert Lee Jr.; and sister, Deborah Christene Brock. Gwen was predeceased by sister, Katherine Jeanine Lee, who died in childhood.


A private family viewing will be held at Carnes Funeral Home October 10th. A memorial service will be held October 11th at 10am at the Church Triumphant Pentecostal Church in Pasadena, with visitation and viewing beginning at 8am, Pastor Jason Sciscoe presiding. Memorial gifts in Gwen’s memory can be made to Missions at or at the kiosk in the lobby of the Church Triumphant.
