  • Jul 7, 2012 Boyd & Family:

    We want to express our deepest sympathy. You and Guyla have been in our thoughts and prayers for the last several months. We know it has been a difficult time for you.

    Guyla has only been a part of our lives for the last 5 years through our association with HGO . . . yet, it seems like we have known her a lifetime. In this short period of time, she created a lasting impression on us and we will fondly remember her forever!!

    To the end, she dedicated herself to fulfill everyone’s wishes especially her legacy.
    Life is not fair to take someone who still has a lifetime of dreams and ideas to fulfill.

    Guyla was:
    . . . passionate about life and her HGO responsibilities;
    . . . a caring, honest and real individual;
    . . . the treasure of the HGO Opera world;
    . . . champagne, caviar and jeans all rolled into one!

    You were very fortunate to be blessed to have her as your life partner. She spoke highly of you many times when we saw her at various opera events!

    We know she is in heaven and has been given the new title of “Special Events Angel” and probably has already initiated a project to erect a champagne fountain immediately inside the gates of heaven.

  • Jul 3, 2012 Guyla's life was a model of "living in the moment". She cared. She laughed. She loved beauty by being beautiful herself, in the most honest and internal way. The world is better for Your presence. I will miss you always, dear loving and loyal friend, and will hold your smiling memory in my heart. Patrick Summers
  • Jul 3, 2012 Guyla was an amazing, graceful friend who knew no strangers and saw the positive in everyone. Even during her own battle Guyla checked, lifted me up with her wisdom: head up and feet forward! She will live on in the HGO family! Rest well, Champagne Girl! Birgitt van Wijk
  • Jul 3, 2012 Guyla believed in grabbing everyday by both lapels. She never wasted energy on anger or grudges, instead she focused 100% helping her friends be our best selves. Her death blew a hole in my heart. I can't hug her anymore, but she's still "Pirched" on my shoulder whispering "We can do this. Easy." Gracie Cavnar
