Gloria passed away on January 23, 2018 in Pasadena, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Gloria was born to Raymond and Josie Kirby on April 29, 1923 and grew up in Houston, Texas as an only child. She was always eager to share stories of growing up during the depression era and the many travels she experienced in her teens with her Aunt. She met and married her true love, Pat McDowell, and they raised 3 children while running a successful machine business in Houston. Gloria was an avid golfer and enjoyed poker, reading, boating, and dancing with the latter on full display at a moment’s notice. After her husband’s tragic passing, Gloria traveled and enjoyed spending time with her beloved cousin, Willys McKay. Late in life, Gloria met and married Morris Rae and lived out the rest of her retirement years relishing in her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She lived a long and fulfilled life that touched five generations, twice in her lifetime. Gloria is preceded in death by her husbands Pat McDowell and Morris Rae, her son Ray McDowell, granddaughters Shannon McDowell Brasher and Kimberly Crane Brennan, and great-granddaughter Kyndall Pickard. Gloria is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Crane and her husband Bill, Patricia Wright and her husband Fred, daughter-in-law Nancy Haritos, grandchildren Connie, Kimberly, Lisa, Fred Jr, Stacy, Shelly, Kellee, Michael, and Amanda, 28 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. There will be no service as Gloria chose to donate her body to science to support the education and progress of modern medicine. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org
. Gloria was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be deeply missed by all. Her stories and legacy will live on through us all. We love you, Grandma. Rest in peace.
