Larry was born on October 27, 1933 in Vader, Washington to Gilbert Anderson and Patricia Lacey. He was a graduate of South Park High School, and attended both the University of Texas and Lamar Tech. On September 7, 1956, this “Greenie” would marry Margaret Laden,, a “Royal Purple” from crosstown rival Beaumont High. They were married for 61 years.
Larry leaves behind four children: son Gary Anderson (Kelley) of Melissa, TX, son David Anderson of Vidor, son Stephen Anderson (Dwanna) of Ivanhoe, TX, and daughter Jennifer Bleuel of Beaumont.
“Paw-Paw” is survived by grandchildren Kristen Meehan (Jarrod) of Lumberton, Hailey Perricone of Austin, Paul Bleuel of Beaumont, and Lindsay Anderson of Melissa. He was great-grandfather to Logan and Lexie Meehan of Lumberton, and Knox Swain of Austin.
Larry was a former sports writer for the Beaumont Enterprise, and a long-time employee of Gulf States Utilities/Entergy in Beaumont. In retirement, he became a proficient mall-walker, and was a regular at several area donut shops and burger joints. Over the past several years he dedicated most of his time and energy as the primary caregiver for his wife Margaret, until her passing earlier this year.
The family would like to give special thanks to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for the excellent care given and kindness shown to both Larry and the family.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
