Gerald Wayne Smith, 68, of 8808 Frey Road 311, died Friday, March 29, 2019 at Harbor Hospice, Houston. He had been suffering many years from decling health.
Born December 29, 1950 a native of Amarillo, Potter County, Texas, the son of Mary Helen (Brown) Smith and the late Carl Franklin Smith. He held many positions throughout his life, but was primarily a pipe fitter, and did quite a bit of traveling. Bring home the joy of his many unbelievablly wild and funny adventures. His joy was meeting people and there was no man he did not call friend.
Jerry leaves behind a loving Mother, a son, and eight siblings, Mrs. Mary Helen Smith, of Long Beach, Calif.; one son, David Smith; three brothers, Carl Raymond, Idaho; Grady Lee and Dennis Eugene Smith, Kansas; five sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Judith) Kellogg, Mrs. Evelyn (the late John Sepeda,and Arturo) Sepeda Ortiz, Mrs. Debra Mays and Mrs. Robert (Carlene) Pedroza all of Calif.; Mrs. William (Diana) Stover, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Aug. 8,1988 and two brothers-in-law,John Sepeda and Arturo Ortiz.
Private services will be held by the family at a later date in California.
After a thoughtful and caring decision was made by his family, our loving son, brother and friend, Jerry will be cremated and returned to his loving mother.
The family would like to extend a heart filled thanks to his dear friend Sue for all the love and care she showed our dear son and brother as well as the Harbor Hospice staff who gave him great support at time when it was needed.

Carnes Funeral Home, 1102 Indiana St., South Houston, Texas, will assist the family with arrangements.
