Faye Rhoads Dixon

Faye Dixon

“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”
January 19, 1948, Faye was the first-born child to Willie B. and Mamie Lee Horace Rhoads. On Friday, August 25, 2017 she made it to her “Home Over the Mountain” and she got there on time! Born in Trinity County, she accepted Christ at the age of 11. She was baptized by Rev. E. Westley into New Hope Baptist Church where she served faithfully with the Youth Department and Senior Choir. She served as Sunday School secretary, Mission president, president of the R. L. District Mission, Church Clerk, and was an avid leader for financial drives. She graduated from G W. Carver Highschool in 1966. She was the last Miss George Washington Carver 1965-66. She attended Lufkin Memorial Hospital LVN school. She lived most of her adult life in Galveston, Texas. She was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Youth Matron, Senior Choir president, Pastor’s Aid treasurer, and Van Driver. She served faithfully until her health started to fail. She knew serving the Lord would pay off after a while. She loved her family, church family, church work, and she believed in the power of prayer! Music was her happiness and she loved to sing. Her motivation statement was “What if God Take a Day Off?” This statement kept her pushing to do His Will.
