Evelyn Frances Frankovich
Evelyn Francis Pehnke Frankovich, 71, met her Savior on July 18th, 2016 at University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas after a cardiac related event.
Born in Galveston, Texas, to Evelyn and Joseph Pehnke, she spent her early years on the Island and graduated from Ball High School in 1963. Evelyn married Herbert Frankovich, Jr., in 1964 and shortly thereafter moved to Texas City. They shared fifty-two years of marriage together. Evelyn was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her three children, thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She showered all with random acts of kindness, unique gifts, baked goods, hugs, kisses and Blue Bell. She loved shopping trips to Sam’s Club and taking her grandchildren roller skating and spending time at Garner State Park. Evelyn was a very giving person and impacted many lives. In 1997, she underwent transplant surgery to donate her kidney to improve and prolong her cousin, Carol Ann Kennedy’s life by fourteen years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Texas City and loved working in the quilting ministry. Evelyn spent the last few months in Utopia, Texas with her family enjoying hill country sunsets and the beauty of the surrounding area.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Joseph “Jinx” Pehnke, Carl Pehnke, Lee Pehnke and Mary Grunden.
She is survived by loving husband and children and their spouses; Herbert “Trey” and Toni Frankovich III, Evelyn “Dodie” and Pat O’Hara, and Barbie and Danny Tucker. Evelyn is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Glover II, Jamie Glover, Leigh O’Hara, Shanna O’Hara, Haley O’Hara, Will Tucker, Aaron Tucker, Kelsey Kieckbusch, Brittany Frankovich, Brook Frankovich, Hunter Frankovich, Turner Frankovich and Selah Frankovich. She is also survived by great- grandchildren, Daegan O’Hara, Landon Ussery, Rylie Bowring, Preslee Tucker, Cole Tucker, Caleigh Tucker, and Chase Tucker.
Pallbearers: Pat O’Hara, Michael Glover II, Hunter Frankovich, Danny Tucker, Lance McKay and Tim McKay.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Friends of Garner State Park or the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation.
Funeral Services will be held on July 22nd at Carnes Funeral Home – Texas City at 11:00 AM, with Visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial in Hitchcock, Texas.
