Elsa R. Rodriguez was born in Matamoros, Mexico on April 18, 1940. She was called home to be with The Lord on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the age of 72 years, at her home in Texas City, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years Manuel Rodriguez; Her parents Eulalio and Isabel Rivera, sister, Jovita Soto; brother, Santos Rivera and daughter, Alejandra Sanchez Rodriguez.
Elsa is survived by her sons, Manuel E. Rodriguez and wife Rev. Lilia of Texas City, Texas, Hugo A. Rodriguez of Texas City, Texas; grandchildren Rev. Joshua E. Rodriguez and wife Brittany of Springfield, Missouri, Christian A. Rodriguez of Springfield, Missouri and Manuel A. Rodriguez of Texas City, Texas; a great grand son Josiah Rodriguez arriving February 2013; many brothers and sisters, nephews, nieces and friends.
Elsa was a longtime resident of Galveston Island, Texas. She was a member of Primera Iglesia Asamblea de Dios in Galveston Island, Texas. In 2000, Elsa relocated to Texas City, Texas. She was the president of the local Women's Ministry department at Primera Iglesia. She worked diligently serving God through the years she worked on numerous church building projects. Her latest effort was rebuilding Primera Iglesia-Galveston. She worked for over 15 years at UTMB in the housekeeping department.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of UTMB John Sealy Towers 5C and OBGYN doctors who cared for her with such gentleness and A-Med Hospice of Texas City especially the team that worked with her and gave tender loving care.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at Carnes Funeral Home, Texas City with a celebration of Elsa’s life service starting at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Carnes Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, Hitchcock, Texas.
Pallbearers are Christian A. Rodriguez, Manuel A. Rodriguez, Cruz Rivera, Vladimir Cantu, JD Graham and Christopher A. Graham.
