Elnora was born the 8th child to Felix and Willie Sparks on March 7, 1932 in Shelbyville, Texas. Later, the family moved to Centerpointe, Texas where she attended public schools.
She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and became a faithful member of Church of Christ until her health failed. She was employed by Ellington Field and University of Texas Medical Branch for a combination of over 30 years.
Elnora loved mostly reading and studying God’s Word. She would recommend others to do the same. Her second love was cutting and trimming her own yard until her children insisted, she call it “QUITS”.
Proceeding her in death, husband DeArthur James; parents Felix and Willie Sparks; sons Eugene and D H James. Also, all 7 of her siblings.
She leaves to cherish and honor memories sons Donnie James (Caroline) of Dickinson, Texas; Ronnie James of Nacogdoches, Texas and Sebastus James of Hitchcock, Texas. One daughter, Hazel Benton (Sylvester) of La Marque, Texas.
Grandchildren Jerel Harris of Atlanta, Georgia; DeMarlon James of Dallas, Texas; Carissa Lynch of Dickinson, Texas; Cory Benton Sr. of Texas City, Texas; and Jonathan James of Houston, Texas.
Nine great-grandchildren and a special niece Lizzie Sparks.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 2, 2021 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, TX 77591. Elnora’s Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00am with Brother Gene Rowe, Jr. officiating and Brother Kirk Green presenting the Eulogy. Interment at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.
