Our mother was a strong woman making the best out of all circumstances and situations. We are strong women because of her loyal and resilient life.

Introduced by her sister-in-law to the Bible teaching of Jesus and His redemption, she was baptized and joined a church in Dayton, Ohio. She faithfully brought Cindy and Barbara to church. Later in her marriage, her husband introduced her to a religious group and she followed with him. In her early 80’s, our mother developed Dementia leading to Lewy Body Syndrome.  She fought this with strength and grace. A year or so ago, while talking on the phone, Cindy and our mother sang the song “Jesus Loves Me”.  She sang this same song with Janet during a one-on-one visit In October 2013. She also welcomed believers to her room as they sang gospel music and prayed with her.

Effie Hill cared for our mother for four years and without Effie and her assistants, our mother would not have had the beautiful care at the Terrell House in Beaumont, Texas. Harbor House Hospice, Beverly Singer, was by her side along with her loving caregivers when she passed away.
