Elizabeth Ferreira Gonzalez

Elizabeth Gonzalez

Elizabeth (Ferreira) Gonzalez was born in Asuncion, Paraguay on October 24th, 1950. She immigrated to the United States in 1974, becoming a United States citizen in the mid-1980’s.

Elizabeth graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Science & Humanities from “La Providencia College”, a Catholic School in Asuncion. She subsequently attended two years of dental school there as well, which she later sacrificed as a devoted wife to accompany her husband Emilio in his academic career to the United States. In this country, she earned a degree in English from the University of Pittsburgh, PA, in 1981.

Elizabeth married Dr. Emilio Gonzalez, in 1973, in Asuncion. They have one son, Daniel, born in Texas, presently a fourth year medical student at UTMB.

Elizabeth worked for many years as an assistant research coordinator, both at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia at Grady hospital, Emory’s main teaching institution, and then later at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), first in OB-GYN, and later in the cardiology division, department of medicine.

Elizabeth was a loving, happy, and devoted mother and wife. She was extremely hard-working both at her job and especially at home. She had a generous heart helping many people during the course of her life. Her devotion to her family was exemplified by her traveling and accompanying her son, Daniel, to many United States Tennis Association (USTA) junior tournaments, that eventually allowed him to play Divison I tennis at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Elizabeth traveled the world as well, visiting many countries in several continents.

She lived a full existance, enjoying life at its fullest. We are grateful to God for this gift.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Emilio Gonzalez, her son Daniel, her father Francisco Ferreira, her sisters Ana and Margarita, her brother Antonio, and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Elizabeth will be greatly missed. She is now in a better world, in God’s kingdom, with Jesus. She will always be with us in spirit, watching us from above, holding our hands, waiting for the day you too can join her in Paradise. RIP (QEPD) querida Elizabeth. We love you so much.
