Edwin Allen Yates
Edwin (Ed) Allen Yates, (76), passed away May 11th, 2015 at his longtime home in Texas City, Texas, where he and his wife shared many of their 45 years of marriage.
Born in Phoenix, New York, he was the son of Edwin and Mary Yates. He attended Texas City High School. He is well known in the fishing community as he has worked in numerous areas from sporting goods to bait camps.
He was a member of the Monster Fisherman Club and for many years participated in various fishing tournaments. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, and the wealth of knowledge that he passed on to following generations. He loved meeting people and telling stories. There are many of us who will look back to good times in our lives and whether the memories are of great events or passing moments he will be a part of them for the smile, the story or the laughter that made it memorable.
He is survived by wife, Ruth Yates, daughters Randi Courtney, Toni and Brad Courtney, Mike Pratt, Elaina Wilson and Patricia Hooper. He leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Terri Pratt and son Arthur Dee Mooney, III.
At his request there will not be any services, his request was for a smile and a beer in his memory.
