Dorothy Blankenship

Dorothy “Dottie” Sue Blankenship was born in Crockett, TX, November 16, 1948. She passed away peacefully amongst family on March 26, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents J.B. and Francy Rawls.

Left to celebrate her memory is her husband, Carl Blankenship; her children, Phil Blankenship, Cara Blankenship, and Arthur Blankenship; grandchildren Joshua Blankenship, Ty Blankenship, and Mase Blankenship; and her siblings, Donald Rawls, Clara Dodson, Jay Rawls, and Albert “Joe” Rawls.

Dottie served her country in the U.S. Navy WAVES, stationed in CINCLANTFLT Norfolk, VA, from 1967 to 1970. Her rank in the Navy was Yeoman. She was an active long time member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, United Daughters of Confederacy, and The Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved to present awards from these organizations to students in the area.

Dottie was a retired resident of La Porte, TX. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. She loved to do genealogy and scrapbooking in her spare time. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was never afraid of adventure.  She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them and her family.

Viewing will be held April 1, 2017 from 1:00pm-1:30 for family, and 1:30-2:00pm open viewing. Lunch reception to follow from 2:00pm to 3:15pm. Funeral service will begin at 3:30pm.

Flowers can be sent to St. John’s Episcopal Church 815 S Broadway St La Porte, TX 77571. Please do not send flowers on Friday March 31st. Flowers can be received Saturday April 1st as early as 10:00am.

Burial Services will be held Monday April 3, 2017 at South Park Funeral Home and Cemetery 1310 N. Main St. Pearland, TX 77581 at 1:00pm. There will be a U.S. Navy Military Honors followed by the Episcopal Church. No funeral procession, please proceed to the gravesite upon arrival. Service is welcome to anyone who wants to join.
