Doris O. Bang
Doris "Dori" Bang was born in Bell County, Texas on August 25, 1922, to Jesse and Alma Walls. At the age of 96, she gained her "Independence" on July 4th, 2019,surrounded by her loving family, Betty Walls, Darlene Walls, Marc & Annette Bates, and Trish & Frank Aubert, who remembered her deep love of God by reading the 23rd Psalm and singing "Amazing Grace." A Country Western version and a Carribbean steel band version were also played. She is also remembered for her love of Life, Family and Country. It was also remembered how Doris lived life to the fullest helping take care of her younger siblings and was blessed with a very happy 33 year marriage to Merton C. Bang, who preceded her in death.
Born with "Dancing Happy Feet," she enjoyed dancing, hiking, biking, rafting, canoeing, camping under the stars, parasailing, traveling all over the U.S.A, going to Spain, Mexico, Belize, Hawaii, Turks & Caicos, and many Cruises. Exhibition square-dancing with her dance partner in her later years was a special joy.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Alma Walls, and also by her siblings, Raymond Walls, Dorothy Walls Diamond, Fae Walls Saucier, Edward Walls, Martha walls Strange, and Donald Lee Walls. She is survived by her siblings, Wilma Walls Cooper, Betty Walls, Annette Walls Bates & husband, Marc Bates, and Wayne Walls & wife, Nancy, sister-in-law, Darlene Walls, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
She had a great life, encouraged younger people to take advantage of opportunities and was admired for her energy and wild spirit. "She lived the life she wanted."
Doris willed her body to Baylor College of Medicine and requested her ashes to be spread over water or on hiking trails in Texas and Colorado.
