Dora Wynn

Dora Girdley Wynn was born on August 17, 1933, to Russell and Ada Girdley in Mississippi County, Arkansas.  She grew up on a cotton farm and went to school in Kaiser, Arkansas.  She was an “all-American girl” who was a cheerleader, majorette and basketball player.  Dora was baptized in Little River at the age of 12 and was a follower of Jesus her entire life.  She met her handsome sailor-boy, Lester, on a blind date, and they were married for 66 years.

Dora and Lester were residents of League City, Texas for the past 53 years.  Dora was a homemaker and lover of children.  She raised three daughters and was a foster mother to a number of children.  Because of her love for children, she was honored with a lifetime membership to PTA, by Clear Creek Schools.  She was a volunteer for many years, with St. Luke's Hospital.  She was a Proverbs 31 woman and a mentor to many young wives.  She was a beloved member of League City Church of Christ.

Dora is survived by her devoted husband, Lester, and her three daughters: Paula Drachenberg and husband, Mike; Keli Sharpe and husband, Michael; Kayla Mitchell and husband, Jim.  Dora has seven grandchildren: Lauri Drachenberg, Jim Drachenberg and wife, Annie; Rebekah Ocampo and husband, Michael; Ashley Grantham and husband Ryan; Matthew Sharpe and wife, Erin; Chris Mitchell and wife, Jana; Anna Stepp and husband, Chris.  There are eleven great-grandchildren.

Dora passed away on March 10, 2018 at the age of 84, after a life well-lived.

Services will be at League City Church of Christ, 1801 E. Main, on Thursday, March 15, 2018.  Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m.  The Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be 10:15 a.m. at the Houston National Cemetery on Friday, March 16, 2018.
