Donor Memorial

  • Apr 24, 2018 My husband Bill died in August of 2017, early in the morning on the day Harvy blew into Houston. He was safely at the Medical School by the time the storm began in earnest that afternoon. There was a period during July and August that Bill and I were traveling between the hospital and the rehabilitation facility. Briefly he was able to come home with hospice care but eventually congestive heart failure ended his life. Bill had many health issues, however, he could always read his Medical and Science Journals, his long term and short term memory were good. During his last evening he listened to classical music, examined his camera and we talked. We had 34 years together, years I cherish. My memories are full of his love, thoughtfulness and kindness. Bill was always pleased that I laughed at his jokes (most were original) and I could always count on his loving and encouraging my artistic ventures. Bill forever has a place with me, and I with him. We chose a full body donation for him where he could continue his work as a Physician and a Scientist. There is a page for Bill on the Carnes obituary website, a perpetual memorial to him. You can leave comments and read his own thoughts about his life. Look up Reeves or August 2017 in obituaries. Marie Haeffner-Reeves
