Today we pay tribute to and memorialize those who have given the ultimate gift. They are husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, children , grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends.
They lived unique lives and experienced their own paths. They probably never met. Yet from one common decision, they have made a positive impact on society and numerous individual lives forever.
They made their living as professionals, academics, laborers, public servants, tradesmen, military personnel, skilled and unskilled workers. They were all nationalities.
With their gift, they have laid a foundation for others to build on. With their gift, they created a foundation for medical and scientific training and developments to the betterment of mankind.
Scientists, medical personnel, service troops, first responders and others owe their training and knowledge to them. Medical and scientific fields owe numerous advancements to them.
With their decision, they gave others life.
A child who couldn’t hear, hears again. A surgeon uses a new procedure he or she learned and saves a life. An infertile couple welcomes a new baby…..and the endless blessings go on and on.
In each of these moments and so many more, we see the positive impact of whole body donors. Their decision was made in private and without fanfare. Tributes to them are few and far between. They gave the ultimate gift, unselfish and anonymous.
But every day they bless the world they left behind.
The Donor Memorial Service will be held at Carnes Funeral Home in Texas City on Sunday, April 7th at 2:00P.M.
Pastor Dennis Johns, with the First Baptist Church in Texas City, will officiate the ceremony.
Please leave a tribute about and light a candle for your Loved One.
