Donald A Duke
Donald A. Duke, age 88, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Mainland Hospital in Texas City, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Alyne Warnock Duke.
Don was born in Pelican, Louisiana, January 4, 1929. He was the son of Floyd Samuel Duke and Iola Johniken Duke. He served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1949, when he was honorably discharged and awarded the Victoy Medal. He then graduated from Georgia, Tech in Atlanta, Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. He retired from the state of Texas in the late 1990’s.
He was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church Texas City. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and children, and great granddaughter, reading the paper, hunting, and watching sports. He will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious smile, and love he shared with his family, friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his children Donna Lynn Duke Lewis and her husband Emmett Wayne Lewis of Rockwall, Texas, Mary Beth Duke Jacobson and her husband Eric George Jacobson of Houston, Texas, and his grandchildren Chad Wayne Duke Lewis, Angela Lynn Lewis Nowell and her husband Matthew Thomas Nowell, John Samuel Duke Jacobson, Lara Alyse Jacobson, and his great granddaughter Scarlett June Nowell.
The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church Texas City on Saturday April 1, 2017 at 11:00 am with the interment at Forest Park East in Webster, Texas. The visitation will be held Friday March 31, 2017 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Carne’s Funeral Home in Texas City, Texas.
