Corina Maldonado Cruz
Corina Maldonado Cruz went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 15, 2015. Corina lived her life to the fullest and had a strong faith in God's will. This faith sustained her family and friends during her journey. She had an incredibly generous heart and a loving nature that touched many.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 19, 1933 and lived in Galveston, Texas almost all of her life. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and spent many, many years as an active member of their women's organization, the Damas of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She was an excellent cook and there was nothing she cherished more than her family. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
There to greet her in heaven are her precious daughters, Lillian and Jennifer; parents, Librada and Porfirio Maldonado and siblings, Pete, Rudy, Mary, Roy and his wife Cheryl.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Fred Cruz; loving daughters, Cindi Smith and husband David, and Jackie Callies and husband Robert; adoring grandchildren, Mindi Ortiz and husband Juan, Lauren Hedge and husband John, Megan Morales, Nicholas and Kyle Callies; precious great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Mikey and Chloe Ortiz and John Andrew Hedge; brothers, Robert and wife Cora, Louis and wife Mary, and Edward and wife Cyndy as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of her caregivers at Cornerstone Hospital of Clear Lake and Altus Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during her final days.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 19, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Galveston, TX with The Rite of Committal to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston, Texas.
