Cherrye Davenport

Cherrye Lynn Davenport was born in Memphis, Tennessee on December 6, 1949 to parents Lawrence Eugene Poston and Nellie Ophelia Ison Poston. She passed away peacefully at home on February 14, 2020.

“Momo” was preceded in death by husband Thomas Roddy Davenport.

“Momo” is survived by brothers Joe Poston and Al Poston; sons James “Bo” Davenport and Dave Davenport; daughters Judy Mendez and Amy Davenport; granddaughters Ashley Reiger, Alexandrea Mendez, Veronica Mendez, Cameron Davenport, Conjetta Sierra and Serenity Silvertooth; grandsons Alejandro Mendez, Kristopher Thompson and Hunter
Silvertooth; great grandchildren Danielle Reiger, Ma’ Layshia Mendez, Jaydan Roberson, Jose Espinoza Jr., Jaden Williamson, Taeya Petteway, Arianna Mendez, Alejandro Mendez III, Steven Sweed Jr., Kagan
Thompson, Alivia Mendez, Dallas Williams and Alaya Hall ; as well as nieces and nephews.

“Momo” was a wife of a Senior Chief Petty Officer in the US Coast Guard and was able to bless many people across the country. No matter where she resided she welcomed anyone who walked through her doors. She cared for many people over the years whether she was fostering children or just
making sure you left her house with a smile on your face and a full belly. She eventually called Texas City,TX her home with her family. She worked at Gulf Greyhound Park for approximately 18 years where she took care of greyhounds in the dog business. She retired and spent the last years of her life with a houseful of family and grandchildren. “Momo” was very warm hearted and loved being with all her “babies”.
