Charlene Diane Broadus, 68, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at her home in Bayou Vista, TX. She was born on September 24, 1951 in Houston, TX to Charles and Dena Swearer. She graduated from Aldine High School in 1969. She married Theron Wayne Broadus on August 30, 1969. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past summer. She worked as a title clerk for multiple car dealerships in the Houston and Galveston area.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Dena Swearer, and her father, Charles Swearer. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Broadus, her boys, Darren and Brian Broadus, her granddaughters, Tori, Sidni, Meagan and Amanda, her sister Dee McMichael and her husband James, and her brother Chuck Swearer and his wife Diane and a host of devoted family members and friends.
Charlene truly lived life to the fullest. She was a devoted mother to two sons and four granddaughters. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Wayne Broadus. She always had a passion for adventure. She was always her family and friends biggest supporter. She loved hard and unconditionally. She was kind and selfless. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who were blessed to have known her.
Charlene loved her granddaughters very much, from the endless jelly beans to abundant love, we will never forget the memories she instilled in our hearts.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 29th at 12:00 noon followed by her funeral service at 2:00 pm at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Fwy, Texas City, TX 77591. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to the woundedwarriorproject.org.
