Carolyn Kay McDuff
Carolyn K. McDuff went home to be with The Lord Thursday morning, July 24, 2014.
She was born on June 9, 1942, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, to Herbert & Virginia Brooks.
In 1961, she graduated Linden-McKinley High School in Columbus, Ohio and married Robert Bowen, until his death in 1971. She enjoyed a wonderful marriage highlighted with the birth of her only child, Bonny. She moved to Texas in 1982, to work in the Oil and Gas industry and excelled in the field information technology, eventually retiring with Sysco Foods in 2008.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Don Brooks of Birmingham, Alabama.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick McDuff and daughter, Bonny Bowen of Houston, Texas; brother, David Brooks of Columbus, Ohio; niece, Kaylee Brooks and nephew, Stephen Brooks of Birmingham, Alabama.
She was a wonderful, patient and encouraging mother to her daughter and husband but most wonderful of all was her loving and caring nature, especially her life-long unwavering passion for saving abandoned animals.
In 2013, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and fought courageously throughout the battle. She was very brave with family and friends remaining optimistic with her characteristic smile. Her life was evidence of how beautiful life can be when it is touched by kindness.
