CAROLYN BILL WELLS
Carolyn Bill Nobles Wells, age 80, went to be with our heavenly Father at 9:45pm on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 due to complications resulting from Alzheimer’s while in a memory care facility in Tomball, TX.
Carolyn was born on July 3, 1937 in Borger, TX to William and Mary Ellen Nobles. She had an older brother, Herman Nobles. The family relocated to Snyder, TX as a young girl where she would go on to graduate from high school in 1955. It was there that she met her husband Walter Wells, Jr. After graduation Walter and Carolyn eloped in Raton, New Mexico. She worked for the telephone company to help put her husband through college. They had two kids, Walter Kevin Wells and Kimberly Diane Wells. In 1967, leaving their friends behind, they moved from Ft. Worth, TX to Houston, TX where Walter worked for Astroworld and Carolyn became a house wife and care of the family. In 1969 she divorced and began working three jobs to support her family and take care of the house. Growing up in the country was no job for a sissy and Carolyn was no sissy. Carolyn was a strong, independent woman who was surviving in a time when it was difficult for women to work and find good jobs.
Carolyn enjoyed learning. She would take classes on cake decorating, oil painting, yoga, dance, you name it if it seemed fun she would give it a try. She was artistic, creative, enjoyed cooking with her grandkids, gave permanents to all the local ladies, loved to go to and have garage sales, and especially loved her dogs. She also loved her family deeply and missed the farm in Snyder. Carolyn lived in the same house in Nottingham West for 45 years before Alzheimer’s and the loss of her son made it too hard for her to live on her own. She moved in with her daughter and son in law in Colorado. It was a difficult time due to her condition, but necessary until she needed 24 hour care after breaking her hip. She moved into a memory care facility in Tomball, TX where she lived out her final 3 years of life.
Carolyn, a small 5’3” lady, has been described by family, friends and caretakers as, kind, caring, spunky and feisty, with the most beautiful blue eyes you have ever seen. Don’t ever try to steal her best friends purse outside of the retail store, because she WILL chase you down and try to stomp your head if the police will just let her. Also, be careful of the purse the caretakers would say, until they were finally able to hide it from her so she couldn’t swing it at them anymore. But if she liked you, you would enjoy her great sense of humor and share many laughs with her. She really enjoyed people and making them laugh if she could.
Carolyn is survived by: Daughter, Kimberly Mobley, Son in law, Wesley Mobley, Grandchildren: Nichole & Rodney Floyd, Colton & Kas Murray, Mark Mobley, Brandon & Tiphanie Mobley. Great Grandchildren: Ronnie Floyd (2), Rance Floyd (7 months), Ann Mobley (2), Izzac Mobley (5), Missy Mobley (14) and Timothy Mobley (17), Kora and Jezlyn Murray (5) Cousins, Bob and Shannon Thornhill and James and Ozane Beavers. She is predeceased by: Father, William Harrison Nobles, Mother, Mary Ellen Nobles, Brother, Herman Glen Nobles and his wife Wanda Nobles, Son, Walter Kevin Wells, Nieces and Nephews: Glenna and Dennis Doose, Gayle Nobles and Mark Nobles.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, 4/23/18 at 2:00pm located at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Rd., Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimers.org (www.alzfdn.org)
I’m so thankful that Carolyn was a Christian. May she celebrate her life in heaven where she truely LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE from above.
