Carmen DeCarroll Jefferson
On Tuesday, November 17, 2015 in Houston, Texas, Our Heavenly Father opened up the gates of heaven to receive a new angel, Carmen DeCarroll Jefferson. Carmen a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, peacefully transitioned from this life to her final rest after a courageous fight with breast cancer.
Carmen was born in Mobile, Alabama on September 8, 1959. She is preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Bell Hoyt Gibbs; her grandmother, Carrie “Big Momma” Hoyt; four aunts, Mattie Hoyt, Sarah Moss, Floretta Young, great aunt, Alberta Gilmore; one uncle, Earl V. Hoyt and her in-laws Edgar and Jean Jefferson.
Carmen leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and dedicated husband of 30 years, Joseph Jefferson Sr.; two daughters, Halana Hoyt of Delaware and Hannah Jefferson of Houston, Texas; son, Joseph Jefferson Jr. of Houston, Texas; one granddaughter whom she adored, Nadia Hoyt of Delaware, her father, Arthur Gibbs of Mobile, Al.; six devoted siblings, Yvonne Carlton, Ronald (Kathy) Gibbs of Mobile, Al. Iris (Leonard) Goosby Sr., of Houston, Texas. Cynthia Brinkley of Warner Robins, Ga., Melvin (Brigid) Gibbs of Singapore and Kelvin Gibbs of Montgomery, Al.
Carmen also leaves behind others who will cherish her memory: four brother in laws, Edgar Jefferson Jr. (Joni), Frank Jefferson (Barbara), Paul Jefferson (Kim), Phillip Jefferson & five sister in laws, Diane Jefferson, Joan Cursor (Richard), Adrianne McCraney (William), Sonia Jefferson and Lillie Jefferson (Deceased).
A host of close nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
She will be remembered as a very caring, warm, compassionate and optimistic influence on the lives of others. Her life was full; she savored a loving family, good friends, good times, travels, music & most importantly, the loved ones she touched. She is Free, following the path God laid for her.
A visitation will be held at Carnes Funeral Home in Texas City on Saturday, November 28th at 11:00AM. A funeral service will follow begining at 12:00pm. A reception and fellowship will follow the funeral service in the Carnes Funeral Home banquet hall begining at 1:00PM.
