Brenda Fae Andrus

Brenda Andrus

A Christian’s Journey…..

On January 22, 1955 in Opelousas, Louisiana, Brenda Fae Andrus began her earthly journey.  She was the only girl of six siblings which made her the “special one” of the family.

Brenda was educated in the public schools of Opelousas and was a 1973 graduate. After graduation she attended Delta Business Vocational School, and then moved to Texas and started her career at Veritas where she has worked for 38 years.

Having been reared in a Christian Home, Brenda accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized by Rev. A. L. Taylor at Mt Olive Baptist Church in Opelousas.  Continuing her Christian Journey, after moving to Texas Brenda united with Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor M. C. Bridges.  Brenda was an active member of Progressive serving in the Young Adult Choir, Combined Choir and was a sponsor with the nationally known Progressive Marching Saints Drill Team.  After her brother, Rev. Graylin Andrus moved to Texas City and organized the Youth Community Organization, “Operation Save the Youth”, Brenda faithfully served as an Adult Advisor for the group which traveled over Southeast Texas and Louisiana.

In later years, God lead Brenda to unite with the Greater Barbour’s Chapel Baptist Church in Texas City under the leadership of Pastor James E, Brown, Sr.   Brenda continued to serve in the Music Ministry, Sanctuary Choir, Mass Choir and Women’s Choir until her health failed.  Although dealing with her personal health issues, she continued to serve as a member of the Mission, and S.A.M.’s (Sr. Adult Ministry), Sunday School and attended worship service every Sunday she was able to witness.  Brenda loved her church and her Pastor, Andrew W, Berry, II.

Brenda enjoyed life… loved the LORD and truly loved spending time with her family.  She always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and cousins; enjoyed the Family Reunions, whether in Texas or Louisiana; or just a quiet Sunday afternoon on the couch after church.

After a fruitful 63 year earthly journey, God called His child, Brenda home to her eternal rest on December 9, 2018.  Awaiting her heavenly arrival were her maternal grandparents, Luscious and Emma Andrus, her beloved mother, Bernice Andrus of Opelousas, Louisiana; and brothers, Rev. Graylin Andrus and James Brooks Jr.

Left to celebrate her Victory in Jesus are her loving daughter, Brandy Francis and husband, Joseph Francis, Jr.; her grandchildren, Jade Francis, Jacy Francis, Joseph Francis III and Jordan Francis;  two brothers, John Edward Andrus and wife, Sheryl Andrus of Opelousas, Louisiana and Russell LeDay of San Antonio, Texas; her dedicated aunts, Mable Antoine of Texas City, Texas and Emma Rea Green (godmother) of La Marque, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, beloved cousins, family members, church members, co-workers and friends.

There will be a public visitation held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 9am with a church service to begin at 11am.  Services will be held at  Greater Barbour's Chapel located at 7420 FM1765, Texas City, Texas 77591.  Services are under the direction of Carnes Funeral Home.  www.carnesfuneralhome.com.
